Please Take a Moment to Pray for the Oklahoma's Fallen

This past month, the state of Oklahoma has seen its share of dangerous tornadoes. I've learned that back in 1999, a big one hit Moore, just south of Oklahoma City. A little over a week ago a F-5 took the same path as that tornado did in 99. At that time, it was one of the worst ones to hit that area, maybe the entire state. Now the F-5 that just went through is now the worst.

Many people were lost, including little ones. Let's take some time out of our hectic day to say a little prayer for these people. God is a good God, and will listen to our prayers. If you're able to do more than pray, please show the people of Oklahoma your good heart as they rebuild their town and homes. Thank you!

I'm ready for Spring!

Happy Easter!

This is an old picture of me and my husband but I wanted to share it in hopes it brings warmer weather and soon lol. Of course, not much has changed since this picture was taken. My hair, I think is the only difference. It was taken before my first book came out when we lived in a trailer park in Muncie, Indiana. The trailer park isn't there anymore but the memories linger on in my mind. A few months later, Cursed Blood was accepted, my hair was longer and I went back to having brown hair for a while. Its back to blonde again now lol.

My newsletter will be coming out soon. For some reason, I was thinking Easter was in April so now you know what a part of my next issue looks like lol. The banner and one of the pages has this background lol. But that's the only hint you'll be getting! If you want to see the newsletter for yourself, please subscribe and I'll send you a free issue straight to your inbox (email).

I just wanted to get you ready for spring, the weather will soon follow (I hope!).

Happy Easter everyone!!

Hobbies

Hobbies are a great way of passing time. But its also a great way to reduce stress. I picked up crocheting back in April of 2012 and here I am making outfits lol. This is just one that I've made. I started with a vest using red, white, and pink. Billy, my husband, said it looked like it was for Valentine's Day and I didn't think much about it but now I kind of think it does look like it. Of course, its perfect for those warmer days of summer lol.

After I was finished making the vest, I thought it was missing something, so I made a "bathing suit" top. I made it a little bigger to cover up more and then I made some bottoms to match lol. Perfect for a day at the beach but no swimming because this can't be put in the machine, hand wash only lol.

If you pick up crocheting or knitting, you have to pay attention to the yarn you select. Its always better to have it match the project you're making lol. If you're making clothes or a blanket, you want something you can throw in the washing machine. Look at the package before purchasing the yarn to make sure its right. If you're using a pattern, you'll want to make sure you're using the size of needle and yarn as well. Being a first time, you want to make sure everything is correct before you begin making anything. And then once you know what you're doing, go with what's more comfortable in your hands. I use patterns as a guide so I know what I'm doing when I make something new.

But anyway, hobbies are great and I really think everyone should have one at least. Even writing can be a hobby. If you don't want to make it a profession, writing can really be a stress release in more ways than one. I've enjoyed writing since I was a kid. It helped me get through a lot of bad times. I was able to escape the real world. It was too painful not to. I could pretend to be people I wasn't. There were so many different people. I was a witch for a long time. I think Emily Peterson was my favorite person during my childhood. We connected in so many ways! She was the person I wish I really was. She was able to handle situations I couldn't dream of. Not the witch part but the person part. We were the one in the same but I think she was stronger in whole. I lack some of the things she's got lol. But that's the beauty of writing I think. You can take yourself and make you better! You can be that strong-willed, no holds bar, no care in the world type person and add it to your own character from your within. You can be that smart, college graduate with a bachelors degree and doctorate. Or you can be that look at danger and laugh, daring kind of person. Or the combination of everything. There's no limit and then you can put yourself in a real situation in your own life and see how it plays out. Its really cool. I think that's why I chose to make it a profession for me. I am who I am but with writing I don't have to be lol. I love it!

Lost and Found

A quite a few months ago, I was in a clothing bank, sorting through some clothes. I spotted a shirt I used to have in my own closet and memories flooded back to me from those days when I used to have this shirt. Low and behold the shelves opened up and I stepped into a room where all the things I had lost were waiting for me to find once again. Imagine how ecstatic I was when I saw all those things that I wished I hadn't lost. Someone had called my name and took me out of the trance I was in. I was mad because I was almost out of the room with an armful of clothes I missed lol.

That was when the book "Lost and Found" hit me. Could you imagine what you would do if you found a room like that? Oh my God, the possibilities! Well Kathy became obsessed with the room, just like I imagined I would if it really happened to me. I'm not a materialistic kind of person but when you lose an entire wardrobe because someone told you someone threw it out due to a flood, and then find out no they hadn't but you were suppose to go get it and that person was suppose to tell you that; you would be upset too. Yeah, it really happened and its in the book too! I put a lot of me into this one because over the years I have lost a lot of stuff, I mean a lot. You know, there really is a black hole in the back of the closet. I've had closets that literally swallowed some of my things. In this book, I was able to find those things and get some closer but it takes a very special man in this book to help me see that, well I mean Kathy lol.

I'm still working on this one but I'm having fun opening each box to see what else I can find. Not really. Its not all about this room, its also about a marriage that goes bad because of this obsession. No one believes Kathy that she found this magical room because she's the only one that sees it. When she pulls out things that shouldn't be there because they were destroyed, her husband believes but now he's against her for doing what she's doing--reclaiming lost items. In the real world, when you lose something, someone else finds it. Sometimes it saves their lives, sometimes it changes them, sometimes it fills in those empty gaps we sometimes get. By her reclaiming them, the item becomes lost to that person. Will Kathy break that balance? Will she even care? Will her obsession destroy her and her family?

I really don't know but I'm having fun finding out and I think you will too! I'm about 20K in so we'll see how it ends and then we'll see what the publishers think!

Pray for School Shooting

It is a sad time around the US as many children and teachers had their lives stolen from them. The children were as young as 6 years old. Many of the teachers at the school are heroes. I'm really saddened by everything right now and just wanted to say something here about it.

It is a shame the man responsible can't be held accountable for what he did. Making those people suffer, he should be aloud to suffer here on Earth for his actions. But now he is suffering in another way. But then again, we don't know his relationship with God to say that but I'm sure it helps those involved to believe that. I just don't know.

But I do know one thing for sure. Those families have someone very important with them, helping them get through this ordeal. I don't know why one child or teacher was chosen over another but there was a reason for it. Only God knows why. Maybe he wanted to fill Heaven with their laughter. If anything, it will help knowing they are happy where they are. No more illness, no more pain, no more danger lurking in the shadows. They are watching us mourn with tears in their eyes. They will all see us again and will be rejoined with their parents and siblings, and friends.

Our lives will move on. We will become better people, live in their memories. We will do things in their honor. Lives are changed forever because of one man's actions but we will not (we cannot) let him win. Because then their lives with be for nothing. It will take some time to be better, mourning always takes time. And I pray for all of the families who lost someone at that shooting and I really hope all their hearts will heal. I also hope they don't lose God in this time of need.

As a parent, I know how I would feel if my babies were taken from me like this. I've lost loved ones in my life and I don't think they would compare to how I would feel if something like this would happen. So it tears me apart that other parents have to go through this.

All of you are in my prayers. God loves you!

16 Days To Christmas

Just a little over 2 weeks before Christmas Day! I'm not going to count the days down on the blog but I just wanted to point it out to you lol. I'm very anxious to see if there will be any snow on that day. I'm sure there will be somewhere.

Between now and the day before, there's a lot to be done. All those last minute shopping days. Stores are so busy this time of year. Sales coming out of the wazoo, just to get your attention. And then you have to be smart because some sales are to just get you in the store, then they attract you to other stuff that you don't really need but the price looks like its on sale when it really isn't just because of the location in the store. You have to be smarter than the store and they're counting on you not to be.

I can't remember where I heard it or read it but I learned that some stores anticipate how the shopper moves around the store so they place certain things in certain places around that path to get your attention first. I actually thought that was interesting. I guess you're suppose to head to the right once you're inside the store. When I heard that, I started thinking......I don't always head in the same direction. Sometimes I go straight into the store, sometimes to the left and sometimes to the right. In that case, the person who thought this "map direction" would be completely wrong for me. That means the things they intended for me to see first may never be seen at all because I don't always see the entire store before leaving. And I'm sure that's true for most shoppers.

So while you go shopping, remember their stragedy to get you to buy more and remember your own. Stick to what you went there for and don't get sucked into the "sales" scheme. Be sure to know the right price for the item before assuming its on sale. Items on end caps aren't always sale items. That's a shopping trap right there for instance. They are placed there for easier targeting for shoppers in a hurry for deals. But then again, I know you're smarter than that, right?

In other words, be safe. And have a very Merry Christmas!!!! And a Happy New Year!!!

Tis the Season to be Jolly.......

Well, I believe its officially Christmas season! Yahoooooo! Do you know what that means? It means SHOPPING! Yes, I yelled it lol. I so love to shop. But I'm a woman, I think I have an excuse lol. Speaking of shopping, have you started yours? Don't wait to the last minute because all those gifts on lists of your family and friends may have something on it that everyone else wants too which means that one item that could make or break your gifting could get sold out real quick. And I know you want to be at the top of your game, right? I know you do.

So get off your computer and go shopping! That's an order.

Happy Holidays!!!!

Beginning to Feel Like Christmas

It's beginning to feel like Christmas. What better way to get the feeling all the way around then to make my look show the Christmassy feeling lol. Now you'll have an idea how my next newsletter's going to look. Now look at what I've done, I've done spoiled it for you lol. Not really because there's more to it than the banner and this picture but the overall look is a surprise! You'll have to subscribe to get that look lol. And I hope you'll enjoy it!

I'm looking for artists for my New Year's issue so if you have something laying around in cyber world, send me an email titled (New Year's Issue Pics) and let's see what you've got. Include the name you use as an artist and links to your website, blog, or where ever you like being contacted as well as a very brief bio about how you began your artistry. I just want to do something a little special for that issue. I need to have everything by Dec 15 so I have time to add everything to the issue so get cracking lol.

Anyway, I really hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and a very happy Christmas! And if I don't see you by Jan 1st, have a very happy New Year as well! May your holidays be jolly and bright!

Love you all!

Welcome to my New Look

Well, after long thought, I decided to keep this blog after all lol. I will be joining this one with the new one to allow more information to be passed along the net. On the second blog is a list of books I've read along with new projects that I'm working on. And of course, I made the two sites look the same (almost).

I really would hate to lose the followers that I have established on this blog which is what drove me to keep it. I love you guys (and gals lol).

I am still changing my pen name though. That is, with the next published book lol. I am still Amber Rigby Grosjean, I'm just shorting the name to A. R. Grosjean. Kind of like Kentucky Friend Chicken changing their name to KFC. They were still the same company, just a shorter name lol.

I never got around to sending out my newsletter last year like I had wanted. Things got in the way--lost the laptop, couldn't afford a new one and couldn't get the information transferred to a library computer along with the software that I used to make it (the pdf file information). So now I have a laptop again and hopefully with God willing, I will begin the newsletters once more. I'm starting this month but it may be November before they actually go out. Keep your fingers crossed please.

The subscription is open. Please use the same box on the right to subscribe or you can just email me at argrosjean@hotmail.com

I want to thank everyone!

Hello everyone! New Update!

Hello everyone, its Amber! How's everyone doing this summer? Hot? Just think, summer is only begun! I can't believe it either lol.

Anyways.........I just wanted to remind you that I have a new blog. Its a blog/website for now. At least until I decide to go with someone else lol. This way I can talk to my fans while giving them the information they need.

So if you don't mind, come on over and check it out. It has a cool background with a matching banner. I just added a page with Peterson Estate's excerpt so you can read a little about my latest book. Its a year old now (I just can't believe it lol).

If you're following this blog, please go ahead and follow that one because I'll be deleting this one pretty soon. I would love to get some ideas to add pages to the new one so it will always be fresh. And of course, there is already a reading list page so people can see how active I am with books that I've read. I'm reading a new one right now about a murderer whose going around killing people in culd-de-sacs (spelling is off there lol)

I'm hoping to start my newsletters back up in August too! That is if everything works out. I'm still working on that at this time but its looking promising. I'll be sending an email to everyone on my list as a reminder when I know for sure. If not, it will be soon! Thank you for being so patient!

See you soon!

I have made a new post today (May 11) about my favorite book. I'm also making a list of books I've actually read! At this time, I'm working on Firestarter by Stephen King. I haven't added the most recent book yet but I will be soon. Its another King book lol. That makes about 3 books now that I've read under King! There's a long way to go but at least I'm reading now!!!!!

Been Awhile lol

Hey everyone! I'm so sorry its been so long since I've blogged lol. Been terribly busy (you know private stuff lol). Anyway, I'm slowly getting things back on track but its going to take a little while longer before things get to be normal again. Life--you can't hate it all the time but you sure can't love it all the time either. Doesn't that just drive you nuts?

Ok, so I'm actually doing something new now! Guess what? I'm actually reading!!!! Yes, I have a list of books that I have read and enjoyed. I will eventually add that list here (forgot to bring it with me lol). I really miss hanging out with all of you and hopefully soon I will be able to do that again.

So as you may already know, my website is down and I'm really sorry about that. As a temporary one, I'm building a new "blog" here which will be a substitute until one gets redone for me. My information will be there. I'm also changing my pen name to just A.R. Grosjean to make it a little shorter. There's this new book I'm getting ready to start on, have to do the research for it first, but it will be a great story about a train. Will have suspense and thiller to it! Of course, adults and young adults will enjoy this one but I have to get to writing it first. Then I can tell you what its about! I have a feeling this one will be the next best seller!!!! We can only hope, right?
